Your privacy is important to us. We only ask for personal information when we truly need it to provide a service to you. We collect it by fair and lawful means, with your knowledge and consent. We also let you know why we're collecting it and how it will be used.

Our Android App

The Summarize.free Android app sends to summarize.free only what it needs to make the summary you ask for:

• The text you summarize, or the link to the web page or YouTube video you summarize. Our servers fetch the page or the video's captions (or transcribe its audio when it has none), exactly as for the website, and send back the summary.
• Documents (.pdf, .docx, .txt) and photos or scans of printed pages are read on your phone, with on-device text recognition for pictures, and are never uploaded. Only the text you choose to summarize is sent.
• Your email address and password when you create an account or sign in. The app then keeps an access token on your phone instead of your password.
• A random identifier created when the app is installed, used to count the free summaries made without an account. It is not your device's hardware ID or advertising ID and is deleted when you uninstall the app.
• Feedback and summary reports you choose to send, with an optional email address and rating.
• Crash and error reports: the error message and where in the app it happened (a stack trace), the app version, Android version and device model.
• Purchases. Pro in the app is sold through Google Play, which processes the payment. Google shares the order ID, the product and a purchase token with us, which we keep as your account's purchase history. Your payment details stay with Google.
• For a Pro summary, a Google Play Integrity check that confirms the request comes from the app as installed from Google Play.

Your history of past summaries is stored on your phone. The app has no ads and no third-party analytics or tracking SDKs, and all traffic uses HTTPS. To delete your account, open Account and then Delete account in the app, or see how to delete your account.

How We Use Information

We only retain collected information for as long as necessary to provide you with your requested service. What data we store, we'll protect within commercially acceptable means to prevent loss and theft, as well as unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use or modification.

Information Sharing

We don't share any personally identifying information publicly or with third-parties, except when required to by law.

You are free to refuse our request for your personal information, with the understanding that we may be unable to provide you with some of your desired services.
